Noack Organ Company, 1999

When Neskirkja was built in the mid-1950s its architecture constituted a bold move into the Modern Movement. The original design included a pipe organ on a small musicians gallery to the left of the altar. The new organ was placed on the altar floor, allowing for a larger choir to gather around the detached keydesk. The case was designed to follow the original design as closely as possible, consistent with the wishes of the Reykjavik Landmarks Preservation Committee. The copper front pipes are flamed to create an interesting texture.
